12-hour clock: Sehri, Fajr and sunrise are morning times, the rest afternoon to night.

Dhaka times are from the Islamic Foundation Bangladesh permanent timetable. Per the Foundation, 3 minutes of precaution are added to Fajr, Zuhr and Maghrib, and Sehri ends 3 minutes before true dawn — so some newspapers or apps may differ by 2–3 minutes.

Other districts are adjusted astronomically for their location, and never show Sehri later or Iftar earlier than the Foundation's district table. Asr follows the Hanafi school. Follow your local mosque's announced times.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Where do these times come from?+

Dhaka's times are from the Islamic Foundation Bangladesh permanent timetable with Sehri and Iftar. Other districts are adjusted astronomically for their latitude and longitude.

Why do newspapers differ by 2–3 minutes?+

The Islamic Foundation adds 3 minutes of precaution to Fajr, Zuhr and Maghrib and ends Sehri 3 minutes before true dawn. Many newspapers and apps print times without that precaution.

Which school is Asr based on?+

Hanafi — when an object's shadow is twice its length (beyond the noon shadow), as the Islamic Foundation also follows in Bangladesh.

How are district times worked out?+

The sun rises and sets earlier in eastern districts and later in western ones. For each date the solar difference between Dhaka and your district is added to Dhaka's time, and Sehri is never later, nor Iftar earlier, than the Foundation's district table.

When should one not pray?+

Per the Foundation's note: 24 minutes from sunrise, the 6 minutes before Zuhr's listed time (zenith), and the 24 minutes before sunset.
