Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do I write a taka amount in words on a cheque?+
Type the amount here and the tool writes it out with crore, lakh, thousand and hundred, e.g. 1,25,300.50 = “Taka One Lakh Twenty-Five Thousand Three Hundred and Paisa Fifty Only”. Ending with “Only” stops anyone adding words later — the usual cheque style.
Lokkho or lakh — which Bangla spelling?+
Both are used. Formal writing and cheques usually use “লক্ষ”, everyday speech “লাখ”. One button switches between them.
How are amounts above 99 crore written?+
The Bangladeshi system has no unit above crore, so the number of crores is itself spelled with thousand and lakh. For example, 10,02,00,00,000 = “One Thousand Two Crore”.
What is the difference between Lakh/Crore and Million/Billion?+
1 lakh = 1,00,000 = one hundred thousand; 10 lakh = one million; 1 crore = ten million; 100 crore = one billion. Banks and offices in Bangladesh usually use lakh and crore; international dealings use million and billion.
How do I enter paisa?+
Use up to two digits after the decimal point. .5 and .50 both mean fifty paisa; .05 means five paisa.
Can I type Bangla digits?+
Yes. Bangla digits ০-৯, English digits, commas, spaces and the ৳ sign all work. The figure is also shown with lakh commas in both digit systems.

The Bangladeshi number system
Bangladesh groups digits as three from the right, then twos: 1,25,300 = one lakh twenty-five thousand three hundred. The units are hundred (100), thousand (1,000), lakh (1,00,000) and crore (1,00,00,000). There is no unit above crore, so 100 crore is “One Hundred Crore” and 1,002 crore is “One Thousand Two Crore”.
On a cheque the amount in words ends with “Only” (“মাত্র” in Bangla) so nothing can be added afterwards. English uses the form “Taka … and Paisa … Only”, with hyphenated tens such as Twenty-Five.
